Recent Progress and Challenges in Mixed Ionic–Electronic Conducting Membranes for Oxygen Separation

Carbon neutrality refers to the state of making net‐zero emissions carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), which is a key concept in tackling global warming. It can be achieved by offsetting as well balancing reduced and emitted emissions. Globally, CO mainly from fossil fuel power plants. The use capture storage technology, including pre‐, post‐, oxy‐fuel combustion capture, plants provide carbon‐neutral strategy that allows for sustainable fuels while potentially reducing Oxy‐fuel facilitates simplifying products through reaction recirculated flue gas with high‐purity oxygen. Oxygen transport membranes, produce pure oxygen via oxides at high temperatures, have attracted increased interest because they improve overall efficiency when integrated capture. Dual‐phase membranes fluorite structure greater potential commercialization than perovskite‐based single‐phase poor chemical mechanical properties. However, despite these advantages, their low permeability remains critical issue. This review focuses on progress development dual‐phase summarizes various approaches facilitate bulk diffusion surface exchange, affect permeability.
